Russell C. Ward Sr. was born November 29, 1931 in Choctaw County Alabama to the late Rev. John R. Ward and Eliza J. Hall Ward. Russell moved from Alabama in the early 1950's to Cleveland, Ohio where he was hired by the General Motors Chevrolet Plant. After which he then moved to New York securing a job as a metal pattern worker for the Apex Metal Company. He was an avid sports fanatic especially for the game of baseball. Russell shared his wisdom with all that would listen.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers, seven sisters, one daughter Gwendolyn and his ex-wife Mamie Lee Wilson. He will be remembered and cherished by his loving wife Janette Grayson Ward; his loving children: Russell Ward Jr. of New York, Maggie Watkins of Texas, Jeffrey (Celeste) Ward of Ohio, and Barbara Ward of Virginia. Additionally he will be remembered by Anthony (Marie) Grayson of South Carolina; Kerry Grayson of Illinois; Monique Grayson of Alabama; Sister-in-laws; Dannie M. Ward of Ohio; Shirley (Michael) Cooke & Sherry (Eddie) Harris both of Alabama, Barbara Graves of Florida. Brother-in-laws: Eddie G. Rodgers Jr., Larry (Glynis) Rodgers, Eric (Deidre) Rodgers, and LaBaron (Tammy) Rodgers all of Alabama. Eddie (Willie Mae) Rodgers Jr. of Mississippi. Russell's lineage will continue on with his 26 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
Graveside will be August 22, 2020 at Woodhall Cemetery at 11 a.m.
